tänd studio embodies the belief that thoughtful design begins with respect towards the materials and environment that sustains and surrounds us. tänd prioritizes the use of local lumber, working with arborists in Utah to salvage trees that are otherwise destined for a lanfill.  When we are not able to harvest our own wood, we will only work with species domestic to the United States. We will not ever handle exotic species. 

 

We believe in giving a second life to already felled trees, through the use of arborists and landscapers local to Utah.

 

By producing our work locally and building pieces meant to last, we aim to reduce waste, limit unnecessary transportation, and create objects that are valued for generations rather than replaced. Our goal is to fabricate beautiful and functional works of art while continuing to challenge the ever growing phenomenon of quick, fast, and environmental destructive furniture; all while consistently finding more responsible ways to care for the resources and landscapes that inspire us.
