Box Elder Natural Edge Bowl

This 20" x 7" natural-edge Box Elder bowl combines beautiful grain as well as natural spalting. Turned to its finished thickness while the timber was still green, the piece was allowed to dry naturally and move wherever the wood wanted to take it. The result is a sweeping, irregular form shaped as much by the drying process as by the lathe itself. Shifting grain and dark spalted lines reveal something new from every angle. Finished with multiple coats of Danish wiping oil, the surface highlights the depth and movement of this remarkable piece of Cottonwood.
