Cache la Poudre is a 9" ash bowl inspired by the French fur trappers and early frontier history of Colorado’s Cache la Poudre River. The interior is finished using the Shou Sugi Ban technique, charring the ash to create a deep black surface that contrasts with the natural wood exterior. The burned interior recalls the fire, smoke, and rugged camps that once marked journeys through the landscape, while the exposed ash speaks to the raw material of the region. Its simple form allows the contrast between charred and natural wood to tell the story without ornament. Cache la Poudre is a reflection on landscape, history, and the traces people leave behind as they move through wild places.
