The Mortal Man Series is about the balance between fragility and resilience, and this piece leans fully into that idea. Inspired by the song by Kendrick Lamar, this lamp is turned from a box elder burl and measuring 18 inches in diameter. It carries all the unpredictability that makes burl so compelling; voids, knots, and swirling grain are left as they are, not cleaned up or hidden, so the history of the material stays visible.

When the light is on, the form softens. The thin wood lets a warm glow pass through, shifting in intensity depending on the density of the grain. Some areas feel almost translucent, while others hold the light back, creating a quiet variation across the surface.

At this size, it has a real presence in a space without being loud about it. Each piece in the Mortal Man Series is unique, shaped as much by the material’s limits as by the hand that turns it.

This is a plug and cord light, and comes with an Edison style LED bulb that is 3000k.
