Crossing is a 9" Norway maple bowl defined by the contrast between its soft, light grain and a darker streak that moves across roughly a third of the form. The natural color shift creates a visual line through the bowl, giving the simple shape a sense of movement and direction. Rather than interrupting the grain, the darker section becomes part of the wood’s story, revealing the unpredictable character of the tree. The pale maple and deeper tones create a quiet balance between light and shadow, allowing the natural material to remain the focus. Crossing is a study in contrast, capturing the moment where two distinct patterns meet within a single piece of wood.
