Fault is a sculptural lamp shade turned from California-sourced walnut, shaped around a natural fissure that runs through the wood. Rather than filling or hiding the split, the form leaves it open, allowing light to escape through the break in the surface. The rich, dark character of the walnut contrasts with the sharpness of the fissure, creating a quiet tension within the piece. The shape is kept minimal, letting the natural movement and character of the wood remain the focus. Turned, sanded, and finished by hand, Fault gives a second life to a piece of California walnut while celebrating the imperfections that make the wood unique.
