Gold Between Us

Gold Between Us is a California black walnut bowl created as both a decorative object and a place to hold the small things we carry every day. The walnut has an incredible amount of chatoyancy, giving the surface a shifting depth that changes constantly in the light. The grain almost appears to move, pulling you deeper into the piece the longer you look at it.

Natural fissures and cracks in the wood were carefully repaired using brass kintsugi, turning what could have been hidden flaws into part of the bowl’s identity. The brass catches light against the dark walnut in a way that feels warm and honest rather than perfect. Finished with a food safe Danish oil and polished to a deep glow, Gold Between Us is a piece about connection, repair, and the beauty that can come from holding broken things together.
