Mend is an elm bowl shaped by the natural movement of the wood, with flowing grain and a warm, light tan color running throughout the form. Natural fissures and imperfections are highlighted with kintsugi-inspired brass, creating a subtle contrast against the softer tones of the elm. The grain shifts and changes across the surface, revealing the unpredictable character of the tree and making each angle slightly different. Rather than concealing the places where the wood has broken, Mend gives them a new presence and purpose. The piece is a quiet reflection on repair, reminding us that what has been broken can become part of what makes something beautiful.
