This 8.5" x 4" natural-edge bowl was turned from a striking piece of Box Elder burl, rich with unpredictable grain and natural character. Oriented with the original bark edge toward the rim, the bowl preserves the rugged surface of the tree as an essential part of its form. The dramatic natural edge creates a striking contrast with the smooth, refined interior of the vessel. Shifting figure, texture, and organic irregularities make the piece visually distinct from every angle. Finished with multiple coats of Danish wiping oil, the surface brings warmth and depth to the remarkable character of Box Elder burl.
