Origin

These bowls are made to order.

Origin is a 17″ bowl turned from ash and left completely unburned, allowing the wood to exist in its natural state. The pale color and open grain of the ash move across the wide form without being hidden or changed by fire. Unlike the charred pieces in the series, Origin focuses on the material before transformation, keeping the tree itself at the center of the piece. Its simple shape gives the grain, small imperfections, and natural variations room to be seen. Turned, sanded, and finished by hand, Origin is a study of the material as it was before anything else was added.
