Sacred Contrastis a 10 inch bowl turned from box elder burl harvested in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City. The burl carries an untamed character, filled with swirling grain, natural voids, and unpredictable movement that gives the piece a sense of constant motion. Every surface reveals something different, allowing the natural complexity of the wood to remain fully visible.

The natural voids within the burl were carefully repaired using brass in the spirit of the kintsugi technique, transforming areas of fracture and absence into some of the most striking parts of the piece. The brass catches light against the soft tones of the box elder, creating contrast while still feeling deeply connected to the wood itself.

Finished to a smooth glow, Balance explores the relationship between chaos and control, fragility and strength. It is a reminder that imperfections do not take away from beauty, but often become the reason we are drawn to something in the first place.
