The Valkyrie

Turned from box elder burl and measuring 12 inches in diameter, The Valkyrie carries a sense of movement and intensity within its form. The burl’s dense, swirling grain and natural voids create a surface that feels active and alive, shaped as much by the material as by the hand that formed it.

A portion of the shade has been torn away and carefully rectified with a brass leaf overlay. Rather than concealing the rupture, the repair defines it, introducing a sharp contrast between the organic complexity of the wood and the controlled presence of metal.

When illuminated, light moves unevenly through the thin walls of the burl, catching in the grain and along the brass edge. The result is a piece that feels both fractured and resolved, holding tension and clarity at once.

This is a plug and cord light, and comes with an Edison style LED bulb that is 3000k.
