Vestige is a 9" spalted cherry bowl shaped around the natural transformation and decay of the wood. Dark lines wander through the pale cherry, creating an intricate pattern left behind by the spalting process. These markings shift across the surface like traces of something that once existed, giving the bowl a sense of age and history. The simple form allows the unpredictable grain and contrast within the wood to remain the focus of the piece. Vestige celebrates what remains, preserving the marks of time and change as something worth keeping.
