Wormy Elm Burl Hollow Form

This 3.5" x 3" Elm burl hollow form is defined by natural spalting, worm holes, and the unpredictable character of the wood. The material presented a challenge to turn, with each imperfection requiring careful attention throughout the process. Clusters of worm holes and natural spalting preserve evidence of the life and decay that shaped the timber. From every angle, the small vessel reveals a different combination of grain, texture, and natural markings. Finished with multiple coats of Danish wiping oil, this piece of Elm is a small sculptural object rich with character.
