Yin

Yin is turned from Salt Lake sourced ash and carries a softness that contrasts its sister piece, A Burn Below. Where one embraces fire and destruction, Yin leans into light, balance, and reflection. Both bowls came from the same tree, making them connected not only in material, but in spirit.

The ash carries an incredible amount of chatoyancy, giving the surface a shifting depth that changes as you move around it. Light rolls across the grain in a way that makes the bowl feel almost alive. After being polished to a deep glow and finished with a food safe Danish oil, the piece took on a warmth and calmness that feels grounded and quiet. Yin is about contrast, but also about coexistence. It is the softer half of the same story.
